Japanese patina

One of the techniques you can learn here at the workshop is how to make Japanese patina.

Mainly used as a base color on copper or copper alloys (but other metals also possible), you can create beautiful and natural looking shades depending on the recipe and method used. In the below color palette you can see a few examples.

You will learn the copper sulfate recipes, as well as method and general guidelines. This is a very fun process! We would also encourage experimentation, as there are so many colors you could achieve.

Once you have learnt how to use the colors on sample pieces, you can also apply it on jewelry.
Here is a beautiful copper, gold and seashell ring created by one of our students. Stunning!
